A trio of harmonious, color combinations of eyeshadow shades. Worn alone or together, all Trio Eyeshadow shades feature micro-fine powders that are highly pigmented, longwearing and crease resistant. Color glides on smoothly, evenly and blends effortlessly.
NARS’ Trio Eyeshadow in High Society is newly released with the Fall 2012 collection. This trio includes a lavender, matte forest green, and iridescent amethyst color.
The NARS Trio Eyeshadow packaging is made of NARS’ classic rubberized black plastic and has a lid with a mirror inside that snaps shut. The outside of the packaging is a magnet for powder products, which makes it difficult to keep clean. Inside the compact, each of the 3 colors sits in its own well.
All 3 colors in this trio have good (though not fantastic) pigmentation. On the skin, the lavender and green colors look matte (though the lavender color technically has shimmer), while the amethyst color gives off a very subtle sheen. I appreciate that the matte colors have just a strong pigmentation as the shimmer colors. All 3 colors also apply smoothly over the skin and don’t need a lot of layering to bring out the pigmentation.
There was a tiny amount of fall-out and more so when the powders are applied over bare skin. The colors also experience slight fading after a few hours, but the change is not dramatic.
Over bare skin, the colors lasted a little under 3 hours before creasing. Over a primer, the colors did not crease for 5 hours.
These are very appropriate Fall colors. And while I don’t personally think the forest green pairs logically with the purple colors for an everyday/daytime/workplace look, they do work together if you’re going for a more creative eye look.
Ease of Use: 9.5/10
The formula applies smoothly and blends out very nicely. The colors mix well together, blending over each other without causing any one shade to significantly lose its pigmentation.
For $45.00 you get 3 shades and a total of 0.17 ounces (4.5 grams) of product. NARS’ single shadows cost $24.00 and contain 0.07 ounces of product. You are getting a good deal by buying the trios over individual shades.
