Company’s Description
Our most advanced foundation uses light-diffusing ingredients providing a pore-less and flawless appearance even under most high-definition technology. HD Studio Photogenic Foundation is infused with tri-peptides and is ideal for everyday use, professional shoots or anytime you’re in the spotlight.
NYX’s HD Studio Photogenic Foundation is available in 8 shades and is said to impart a flawless appearance. This review covers the foundation in general and specifics about the shade 03 Natural.
Packaging: 10/10
This foundation comes in an opaque, air-tight bottle with a pump at the top. The packaging does a great job of keeping the product inside clean and the pump releases a controlled amount of product each time.
Quality: 8.25/10
The HD Studio Photogenic Foundation has a thin formula but isn’t watery. It has strong pigmentation and gives medium coverage.
Despite having a thin formula, I find that the foundation gives some resistance during the blending process. And, despite being pigmented, I still have to use several pumps to evenly coat my face. Otherwise, the foundation leaves a splotchy finish.
Once it’s blended out, the foundation is seamless. Unless you have dry skin, you will need to set the foundation with powder because it leaves a shiny finish. You will also need to blot during the day if you have combination or oily skin because this foundation doesn’t do anything to counter-act shininess.
A major turn-off for me is that the color 03 Natural looks like it has oxidized. It’s not just that the color is slightly darker than my skin, but that it has a slight peachy-orange tint to it. Once it’s all blended out, it doesn’t look that bad, but it always bothers me when I’m using this foundation and I see the oxidized hue to it.
I don’t have any problems with wear-time (note that I set this foundation with powder); it lasts for at least 9 hours without noticeable fading.
Ease of Use: 8.5/10
It takes more pressure to blend out this foundation that it usually does with my other liquid foundations. I also absolutely have to blend the color down onto my neck to counter-act the slightly oxidized tint.
