A skin perfector that instantly per-fekts and enhances the appearance of the skin offering an easy alternative to traditional foundation, primer, color corrector and powder.
Per-fekt’s Skin Perfection Gel is said to reduce redness, enlarged pores, fine lines, and shine. It comes in 4 shades and a translucent color. The shade Radiant is depicted, below.
This product comes in a light blue, metal tube that is very sleek and lightweight. Better yet, you get an air-tight container with a pump dispenser to keep things sanitary. The cap snaps on securely.
The Skin Perfection Gel is a medium-thickness gel product with a mousse-like consistency. It feels very silky due to the large amount of silicone in the product.
This gel gives a translucent tint to the skin without coverage. Out of the pump, Radiant looks like it will be too dark on my skin. But once blended out, it gave just a hint of bronzing color to my face that blended well with the rest of my skin and looked very natural. Although the company claims this is an alternative to foundation, unless you already have spotless skin, this won’t be sufficient as foundation.
The Skin Perfection Gel does even out the skin and is a very effective primer. Perfekt’s claims that this will mattify the skin are also true because of the inclusion of Montmorillonite (a type of clay) in the product. Like with any mattifier, though, don’t expect this effect to last all day.
As a bonus, the fourth ingredient is Retinyl Palmitate–a form of Vitamin A that functions as a great anti-oxidant for your skin. Another anti-oxidant superstar–Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate)–is next on the ingredient list.
Overall, this is a great product to use as a base for your skin that gives you the added benefit of anti-oxidants. For any guys who want an extremely subtle way to even out their skin with an undetectable product, this is a great option.
Ease of Use: 10/10
This product is extremely simple to use. Even though the website instructs you to not rub the product into the skin, I found no problems with taking 2 pumps of the product and rubbing it onto the skin with my fingers.
For $57.50 you get 1 fl oz (30 ml) of product. For comparison, Lancome’s Perfecting Makeup Primer costs $42.00 and contains 0.85 fl oz. Smashbox’s Photo Finish Color Correcting Primer costs $38 and contains 1 fl oz. Per-fekt’s Skin Perfection Gel is certainly more expensive compared to other high-end primers. But less expensive primers don’t contain the skin-benefiting ingredients you’ll find in this product. If you account for the skincare features of this product, you’re paying a comparable price.
