Your eyes will illuminate with these fun and bold palettes of bright eye enhancing color – Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow & Liner, Pop Collection by Physicians Formula.
Physicians Formula is a drugstore brand well-known for its Shimmer Strips eye shadow palettes. The company’s Pop Collection features similar eye shadow palettes, but in brighter colors. The Shimmer Strip for Green Eyes from the Pop Collection is reviewed here.
Shimmer Strips come in a clear plastic, rectangular compact. The lid opens up along the long side. There is no mirror, but there is an angled sponge-tip applicator included.
This palette includes various green and purple shades, plus a cream shade. The entire “strip” is shimmery, so you won’t have any matte options to balance your eye look out.
The formula is stiff and the pigmentation of the color is unimpressive. In the swatch photo, below, the colors look decently pigmented, but you have to layer the colors several times and dig into the shadow to get the pay-off shown. Realistically, you’ll get a sheerer wash of colors on the lids. I also don’t see these colors being used as liners, due to the lack of pigmentation.
As a side note, even though Physicians Formula designates this palette for green eyes, you can absolutely use it no matter what color your eyes are.
Ease of Use: 8/10
Getting decent pigmentation out of these colors requires a stiff brush, applying a lot of pressure into the pan, and multiples layers.
For around $11.00 you get 7.9 grams (0.26 ounces) of shadow. NYX’s Eye Shadow Palettes cost the same and contain 14 grams of product. Revlon Colorstay Eyeshadow Quads cost $8.00 and contain 4.8 grams.
