Company’s Description

It’s a pampering balm fused with a lightweight lipstain in an adorable chubby crayon. Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain gives softer, smoother lips with a perfect flush of color that lasts hour after hour. The gel formula comes in 12 vibrant shades that match any look or mood.

Revlon’s newest hot lip item is its Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain, which the company markets as a cross between a lip balm and a lip stain. There are a total of 12 shades available, all of which you can see here.

This review is specifically for the shade Adore–a deep, brick-blood red with gold micro-shimmer.

Packaging: 9.75/10

The Balm Stains come in pencil form with bases that twist to reveal more product. The packaging is made of plastic.

Quality: 9.75/10

Adore is a beautiful, deep, sultry, brick red that is made dimensional by tiny micro-shimmers that don’t stand out individually, but give the color a slightly shimmery effect.

This is a great balm-equivalent of a lipstick. This balm isn’t thick, sticky, or tacky. The formula is emollient and moisturizing, though not quite as creamy as the lighter shades in the Just Bitten Kissable line. The product is smooth over the lips and makes them feel soft. It doesn’t emphasize lip lines, even as the color fades.

Adore is long-wearing but not transfer-proof. The color stays strong for about 4 hours. And this is even with eating, drinking, and talking.

The product has peppermint oil in the ingredients but I didn’t feel any tingling sensation on the lips.

I do not personally have the Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balms, but from what I can tell, they aren’t a duplicate for Revlon’s Balm Stains because Clinique’s product doesn’t stain the lips. I do have all of Tarte’s LipSurgence Lip Luster Tints. I like the Revlon Balm Stains a tad more. They are more moisturizing (not to mention a lot cheaper!). As you can see from the comparison swatches, there isn’t a dupe for Adore in Tarte’s line.

Ease of Use: 9.8/10

There’s really nothing to application. Just color over the lips like you would with a crayon! The pencil form allows you to be precise and the balm formula glides without resistance over the skin. You do have to apply this color a more slowly because the pigmentation is very strong, so a less-than-smooth line will be noticed.

Price: 9.25/10

For under $9.00 you get 0.095 ounce of product. Tarte’s Lip Luster Tints are $24.00 and contain 0.10 ounce each. Clinique’s Chubby Sticks are $16.00 and contain 0.10 ounce.

I definitely want this now, thanks to you! I didn’t realize how complex the color was until seeing it swatched.
