Spring lips dish it up! With our shop-til-you-drop shades and the collection’s colourful and fun packaging these shades stay fashionable long after check-out.
This review is for the 4 new lipstick colors releasing with MAC’s upcoming Shop MAC / Cook MAC Collection. This post includes photographs and swatches of the following colors:
- Naughty Saute (Cremesheen): Bright pepto pink
- Watch Me Simmer (Amplified): Bright pink-orange
- Quick Sizzle (Matte): Bright pink
- Dish It Up (Lustre): Berry pink
Innocence, Beware! and Runaway Red are re-promoted with this collection also.
These lipsticks come in standard MAC packaging. The tubes are made of plastic and can easily be taken on-the-go. The outer box packaging has a retro, throw-back design.
Naughty Saute is a semi-transparent bubblegum pink with a sheen finish. The formula, surprisingly, was a bit stiff and took a couple of swipes over the skin to warm up the product before the color transferred onto the lips.
Watch Me Simmer is vibrant coral with the intense, dense finish expected of the Amplified formula. It applied smoothly and opaquely.
Quick Sizzle is a deep pink magenta. Even though it’s a matte formula, it’s not stiff or dry and transfers onto the skin pretty easily, leaving an opaque and bold finish. The surface does have a sheen to it–similar to an Amplified formula–so I wouldn’t classify the finish as strictly “matte.” This color is very similar to Pink Pigeon from MAC’s Iris Apfel collection, so if you already have Pink Pigeon, there’s no need to buy Quick Sizzle. Quick Sizzle is ever-so-slightly more opaque and deep in hue, but the differences are minimal.
Dish It Up is a translucent bougainvillea color with a glossy finish. Because it’s a Lustre formula, the surface can look a bit uneven but can be smoothed out with some layering.
Overall, this is a strong set of lipstick colors. My top criticism is that Naughty Saute is stiffer than ideal. Otherwise, these lipsticks have good pigmentation and strong finishes. FYI, Watch Me Simmer and (particularly) Quick Sizzle will stain your skin.
Ease of Use: 9/10
Naughty Saute requires warming up before use. The other 3 colors transfer easily. You should apply Quick Sizzle and Watch Me Simmer slowly or with a lip brush, since the bright colors will magnify any mistakes you make.
These are the same size (3 g) as regular MAC lipsticks and cost $14.50 each.
