A violet inspired quartet of shades to turn that shopping aisle into a high fashion runway. More than a snack, a colourful buffet! Comes ready to go in the signature packaging of Shop M·A·C.
This review is for the Shop & Drop eye shadow quad that comes with MAC’s upcoming Shop MAC / Cook MAC Collection. This post includes photographs and swatches of the following colors:
- Hypnotizing (Frost): Frosted greyed mauve (Repromote)
- Sugar Snack (Matte): Light pink
- Power Boosted (Veluxe Pearl): Violet
- Shop & Drop (Satin): Deep blue
This quad is packaged in a standard MAC container–a plastic 2-by-2 palette with a see-through, flip-up, magnetized lid. The outer box packaging has a retro, throw-back design.
Hypnotizing is a pale, cool-toned pink with a matte finish. It glides on smoothly and evenly, but you might have a hard time getting it to show up if you are around NW/NC20.
Sugar Snack is a slightly frosted, light mauve. Up close, you can detect the unique presence of coarse, copper-colored glitters. The finish is every-so-slightly patchy, but you probably won’t be able to tell when the color is applied to the lids.
Power Boosted is a pretty violet with a slightly lighter sheen that wants to be a duo-chrome but doesn’t quite get there. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have the color intensity I’d prefer, even after layering.
Shop & Drop is an extremely dark blue with light, navy blue pearls. It’s beautiful up close, but the shimmers and blue hue are subtle–they get overwhelmed by the darkness of the color. Most likely, it will look like a standard black color with a few shimmers.
Overall, this is a good quad. It would be a great one if Power Boosted were more vibrant and if Shop & Drop didn’t need layering to even out the finish and make it opaque.
Ease of Use: 8.8/10
These shadows applied smoothly. You will need to layer Shop & Drop to get a smooth surface.
Single shadows are (now) $15.00 each, so for four colors, $38.00 is a very good deal.
