Company’s Description
The next generation lip conditioner that combines the look of a gloss and the conditioning benefits of a balm with SPF 12 sun protection. Features a light strawberry-kiwi flavour.
This review is for the 4 Tendertone Lip Balms releasing with MAC’s upcoming Shop MAC / Cook MAC Collection. This post includes photographs and swatches of the following colors:
- Hush, Hush: Sheer gold with yellow gold pearl (Repromote)
- Purring: Sheer tangerine with pearl (Repromote)
- Hot ‘n’ Saucy: Soft cherry red (Repromote)
- Tread Gently: Soft lime green with yellow pearl (Repromote)
Packaging: 8.5/10
Tendertones come in glass jar packaging and twist-off lids, exactly like MAC Paint Pots. The packaging requires you to dip your finger into the pot to apply, which is unsanitary. The outer box packaging is decorated with a retro plaid design.
Quality: 9/10
Hush, Hush is a brassy gold with silver and gold shimmers. On the lips, it’s basically a clear balm with golden shimmers.
Purrring is a bright orange that applies very sheer. The orange hue is almost imperceptible on the lips.
Hot ‘n’ Saucy is a bold red, but the sheer finish gives just a hint of cherry red to the lips.
Tread Gently is a lemon yellow with yellow shimmers. On the lips, it’s clear with yellow shimmers.
Tendertone Lip Balms are highly emollient and moisturizing to the lips. They have zero stickiness or tackiness. The SPF of 12 is also laudable, but an SPF of 15 is really the bare minimum you should have.
Ease of Use: 10/10
These are extremely easy to use. Just apply with your fingers. The colors are sheer enough that you don’t need a mirror while applying.
Price: 7.5/10
For $15.00, you get 0.2 fl oz (6 ml) of product. MAC’s Lip Conditioners are also $15.00 but contain more than twice the amount of product and have an SPF of 15.
I have never tried tender tones but heard so much from them, so excited!
I love the berry scent these have, too.
