Stila’s newest eye product is advertised as a primer, shadow, and liner, all in one. Plus, Stila says these are waterproof and crease-resistant. Sounds too good to be true? Find out in the review for the following colors, below:
- Pink Violet
- Midnight Blue
These shadow sticks come in lightweight, plastic pencils that twist to reveal more product. Very convenient sharpeners are also included in the base of the pencils.
Kitten is a light champagne with a hint of frosty pink. Antique is a medium nude. Rose is a soft pink. Pink Violet is a medium, violet purple with lighter purple shimmers. Smoke is a medium taupe with a hint of khaki green. Umber is a deep chocolate brown with the slightest hint of purple. Midnight Blue is a medium-to-dark navy blue.
All of the colors have frosty finishes except for Midnight Blue, which is matte. Pink Violet has larger shimmers in it than the other frosty colors. All of the colors have wonderful pigmentation and apply opaquely.
The formula for these pencils is quite flawless. The gel glides on effortlessly and smoothly. I didn’t have to press the pencils into the skin anywhere near the way I have to with most other pencils to get the color to apply.
I am always doubtful when a company claims something is waterproof. But these truly are. In the video overview for these pencils, you can see that these hold up against water and subsequent smudging. When I tested out these colors, I did not wear a base underneath and was so surprised to see no creasing after 6 hours of wear. If you use a primer underneath, you get all day (over 10 hours) of wear with no creasing. And there’s no smudging these after the color has dried on the skin.
Ease of Use: 9.8/10
Application is effortless and gentle on the eyes because of these pencils’ creamy, soft formula. The only problem you’ll run into with using this product is when you want to take it off. The color will come off just fine if you use an oil-based remover suited for waterproof makeup. Otherwise, you’ll have to do some rubbing to get the color off, which isn’t great for the eye area.
For $22.00 you get 1 gram (0.04 ounces) of product. Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencils cost $20.00 each and contain 0.1 ounce of product. Unfortunately, you get less than half for the amount you’re paying with Stila’s pencils.
