Infused with crushed pearls, diamonds, and porcelain powder, these eye shadows create a sparkling radiance on your lids. For intense, shimmery payoff, each formulation includes ultra-high pigmentation. Quality ingredients assure long wear and can be applied either wet or dry. The gorgeous oval Vanity Compact provides you with the perfect mirror for your makeup bag
This is a review for Tarina Tarantino’s eye shadow palette in “Diamond Dusk.” This palette was released during the holidays and carried a reduced price-tag of $20.00 (palettes are normally $32.00). The palette is no longer being sold online, but several of the Sephoras I phoned said they still have this palette in stock.
Jewel Shadow Palettes come in holographic, plastic compacts with snap-shut lids that have mirrors inside. The packaging is extremely lightweight, making it ideal for traveling with. The individual eye shadows are also large enough to comfortably fit a brush in.
The holographic plastic makes this packaging rainbow-colored; the cover is also designed with glittery and silver stars. It’s very girly. In fact, it may be the most girly and extravagant packaging of any other brand sold at Sephora. I can see this being adored by some and being too showy for others.
There aren’t any names on the back of the compact, which makes it difficult to identify the colors if you wish to match them with colors in other palettes.
The left color is a frosty white and pink duo-chrome. The top color is a frosty white and baby blue duo-chrome. The right color is a light, rosy pink with a slight silver duo-chrome. The bottom color is a deep black with medium-sized silver glitters. The center color is a strong metallic grey with silver shimmers.
All of these colors have great payoff, pigmentation, and finishes. The pink color isn’t quite as soft as the others and the black isn’t fully opaque. The metallic silver is the most impressive because of the intensity of the color and the strength of the finish. The first 3 colors are quite unique and their duo-chrome finishes aren’t seen with many other shadows on the market. It would have been nice to have a matte color mixed in with the rest.
Ease of Use: 9.8/10
The shadows’ formula is slightly soft, gliding smoothly onto the skin. You do need to build up the black to even out the finish and may also need to layer the rosy pink.
For $20.00, you get 9 grams (0.32 ounces) of shadow. Normally, these palettes are $32.00, so you’re getting a great deal with the Diamond Dusk palette.
