A first of its kind! This creamy, long-wearing blush fuses the ease and blendability of a cream blush with the soft-focus and long-wear finish of a blush that has been airbrushed on the skin. The airsprun formula melts into skin, delivering a powerful dose of skinvigorating™ maracuja oil, and then dries down to a feather-light, long-wear flush with a subtle dewy finish. Awaken your complexion with a pop of maracuja-infused color on the cheeks and treat your skin to the repairing and hydrating properties of maracuja for a brighter and smoother complexion.
Tarte’s new line of cream blushes incorporate Maracuja oil as a key ingredient and are said to be long-wearing, light-weight, and hydrating. This blush currently comes in 3 shades. This review is for the shade Shimmering Peach–an orangey-peach with gold micro-shimmer.
This blush comes in a round, flat compact with a snap-shut lid that has a full-sized mirror inside.
In the pan, Shimmering Peach is a very strong peach color that leans orange and contains tiny gold shimmer particles. Luckily, the color applies much more sheer than it appears in the pan. The shade still has great color pay-off, but the nature of the cream/mousse formula makes the initial layers translucent, softening the color and finish. Even though the pan has shimmer in it, the color doesn’t leave a shimmery finish and you don’t really see any shimmer particles, even up close, unless you apply multiple layers.
Tarte says this is a cream blush and it has the consistency of a pressed, whipped mousse. The pan in soft and deformable if you put pressure on it (sort of like the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blushes).
What I love about this blush is the way it looks on the skin. The color sinks into the skin so that it looks seamless, as opposed to sitting on top of the skin the way most powder blushes do. The finish is not shiny, oily, powdery, cakey or dry. The formula isn’t necessarily hydrating, but it certainly isn’t drying. The formula is also very light, so you don’t feel like you’re wearing anything on your cheeks.
The shade maintains its vibrancy for most of the day, fading somewhat after about 7 hours of wear.
Ease of Use: 8.8/10
You can leave the color in a very sheer layer on the skin, or apply subsequent layers to build up the color intensity. I usually use a short stippling brush to apply. The color can show a little patchiness on the first layer because of the cream/mousse formulation, so make sure to dab and blend enough to get a smooth surface of color. Otherwise, this blush blends over and sinks into the skin beautifully.
For $25.00 you get 0.19 ounces (5.3 grams) of product. When you compare the amount of product and price to equivalent brands, you’ll see that this is a pretty typical amount for the price.
