Company’s Description

This 24/7 shadow pencil allows you to blend shimmer, cream, and sparkle finishes. Skip the traditional powder shadow, brushes, and water. These convenient pencils make it easier than ever to get vibrant eye shadow looks on the go.

Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencils are said to be convenient-to-use, vibrant, pencil-form eye shadows. They come in a total of 12 shades. This review is for 5 shades:

  • Delinquent: Dark purple with bright purple sparkle
  • Rehab: Taupe
  • Juju: Medium taupe with brown shimmer
  • Sin: Champagne
  • Clash: Bright turquoise with silver sparkle

Juju isn’t sold separately (it came with the “Stash” set, which is not sold at the moment), but might make a showing again in the future.

Packaging: 9/10

These come in standard pencil form. You will need to sharpen them with a size-appropriate sharpener.

Quality: 9.8/10

These pencils have a creamy formula, so they apply to the skin without too much pressure or tugging.

The pigmentation on all of the colors is fantastic. Each color gives you an intense metallic finish without showing individualized glitter particles, so you can wear them during the day and at night. All of the colors are dense and opaque.

True to Urban Decay’s claims, these are smudge- and water-proof. I saw zero creasing, even after 10 hours of wear and regardless of whether I applied a primer or not!

My only small criticism is that the shadow sets very quickly, so you have a small window in which to blend the color out if you want to use them in the crease. After just a few seconds, the color will set and you have no hope of blending it out.

You can definitely use this product as either a shadow or liner.

Ease of Use: 9.75/10

If you want a more precise application (the pencil form is much bulkier than your normal eyeliner), you can apply the product to a thin liner brush first. Otherwise, application is super-simple, given the convenient pencil form-factor. The only thing you need to watch out for is blending. If you want to blend out the product, be quick about it.

Price: 9/10

For $20.00 you get 2.8 grams (0.10 ounces) of product. Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Shadows cost the same and contain a little more (0.14 ounces). NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencils cost $24.00 and contain 0.14 ounces.

Found these colors in a set at Nordstrom Rack for $9!

I have this in Rehab (love the colour) and while it’s a nice long wearing product, I find it difficult to work with – as you mentioned in your post, you have to watch out for blending. I find that I have to work SUPER fast to blend the edges before the product sets or else I look like I have blocks of unblended eye shadows on my lids. Also, for me personally, I experienced slight creasing in the inner corners of my eyelid with this, even when worn with primer or powder eye shadow on top. One thing that I do like about these pencils is that their caps are metal, not plastic (I guess the set was different than the ones sold individually) so the pencil caps won’t crack like other jumbo pencil liner caps are wont to do (NYX!)

Sorry to hear yours crease. Do you have somewhat oily lids?

      • amarock says:

Yes I have oilier lids but nothing extreme. I do find that cream eyeshadows are hit and miss. MAC Paint Pots work great but Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows crease horribly on me. The UD pencil falls on the good end of the spectrum at least!

I love them a lot! I own Delinquent, Sin and Clinic… lovely!

I’d been considering buying these for a while but was worried they may crease easily. I think you may have convinced me to purchase Delinquent!
