Company’s Description

Want a “grater” way to have the smooth look of loose powder, without that go-everywhere mess? Your Best Friend’s micro-fine, pressed-to-loose bronzing powder comes in an innovative delivery system within a mirrored compact and soft haired kabuki brush. The dial-up grater lets you choose how much freshly-milled powder you want, each time. The soft-hair Kabuki brush helps it go on smoothly for a flawless look.

This review is for ybf’s Greater Bronzer and Kabuki Brush. These 2 products are sold together exclusively via ULTA‘s website.

Packaging: 8/10

Both the bronzer and kabuki brush have packaging made of thin, red-colored metal. Fortunately, the metal packaging keeps the items light-weight.

Unfortunately, the bronzer’s packaging is bulky. Inside the flip-up lid, you’ll find a grind mechanism that you turn. It shaves off part of the bronzer underneath. While innovative, it’s difficult to control the mechanism to get the right amount of product. If you shave off too much product, there’s really nowhere to buff off the additional product from your brush. With some other packaging, you could buff the brush into the lid to reduce the amount on your brush, but this lid has a mirror, so you can’t use the lid to control the amount of product you get.

The kabuki brush comes in travel-friendly packaging. You push the brush down and can cover it with the cap. But the glue holding my packaging together came loose, so my brush doesn’t function as it should.

Quality: 9.5/10

I’ll start with the brush. It is very soft and has no scratchy bristles. I think it’s on the small/dense side, though, for bronzing purposes. You have to spend extra time buffing out the powder, as the brush deposits the bronzer a bit too densely.

As for the bronzing powder, it is also amazingly soft, smooth, and applies evenly. It does have the slightest orange tint, but it doesn’t show once powder is blended out over the skin. I didn’t have any problems with fading.

Ease of Use: 8.5/10

The packaging creates some difficulty because it’s easy to shave off too much product. But the bronzer itself applies evenly and gives strong color that can be buffed sheer.

Price: 9.25/10

For $28.50 you get a kabuki brush and 6.5 grams (0.23 ounces) of product. This is actually less bronzer than what you’d get with most other brands, but you also get a brush.
