This review is for Zoya’s upcoming Fleck Effect collection for Spring 2012. The colors are as follows:
- Maisie: Blue tint with mylar green fleck effect
- Opal: Green tint with mylar green fleck effect
- Chloe: Pink tint with mylar green and gold fleck effect
Packaging: 9.5/10
Zoya polishes come in clear glass jars that narrow toward the bottom. The distance from the handle to the brush and the brush length are perfect for controlled application.
Quality: 9.5/10
All 3 colors have a transparent base that has a very subtle hint of color. Maisie has a blue tint with green and blue flecks. Opal has a green tint with green and blue flecks. Chloe has an orange tint with gold and green flecks. The flecks are suspended in the base polish and look like shimmery confetti (like the kind you use to stuff plastic Easter eggs), which means they vary in shape and size.
Each color can be used alone or over a colored base coat. I think these are great polishes used both alone and with other colors. Alone, they give a subtle shimmer to the nails without being too noticeable. Using them over a color you already has spruces up the base polish.
These polishes last a little longer than other Zoya polishes–about 5-6 days before chipping.
Ease of Use: 9.25/10
These polishes are very easy to apply because of the light tint. Removal is the more difficult part because the flecks like to adhere to the skin even after you’ve removed the base polish.
Price: 9/10
For $8.00, you get 0.5 fl oz of polish. This is on-par with other salon polish brands like China Glaze and OPI.
Which one is your favourite?
Probably Maisie.
Ooh…even better than I thought; they sort of look 3D! Do they feel smooth on the nail or do you have to use a top coat?
They do feel smooth, even with 2 coats. No need for a topcoat to make it smooth.
