When it comes to creating gorgeous makeup looks, never underestimate the power of good-quality makeup brushes! Every makeup pro knows that brushes are one of the key elements to create a flawless face! This convenient 2-in-1 brush collection contains 4 double ended brushes (that’s eight brushes in total!) in one sleek black carrying case with a mirror inscribed with “Hello Gorgeous”!
YBF’s Double Ended Brush Set includes 4 duo-sided brushes for the eyes and face. See below for a full review and photos of this set.
This set comes in a cylindrical carrying case made of shiny black plastic on the outside and red felt on the inside. The case divides in the middle, revealing a mirror inside one half and the brushes in the other. The case stays closed via a metal clasp.
This is a great, compact, sturdy way to travel with your brushes. The case will keep your brushes from being squished by other luggage while also keeping them sanitary.
The red lint on the inside does transfer, though, and I noticed it most on the mirror. The lint also transfers onto the bristles, so you may want to wipe down the interior of the case before use.
All of the brushes are made of synthetic bristles that are dyed red and have black tips. Luckily, the red dye doesn’t bleed when you wash the brushes (make sure you use lukewarm water). The bristles are amazingly soft and gentle on the skin.
The face brush consists of a small-to-medium rounded brush and angled brush. Both brushes are fairly narrow. The rounded brush is suitable for blush, highlighter, or bronzer. You could also use it for all-over face powder in a pinch, but it’s small for that use. The angled brush can be used for the same things the rounded brush can, but may be more suitable when it comes to contouring. This brush works well for face powders, though the rounded end is slightly more flimsy than I’d prefer.
The lid/crease brush has a flat, short brush on one end and a fairly short, rounded crease brush on the other. Both brushes work well, though the lid brush could be more dense. The crease brush is quite small, so it’s great for small creases.
The blending/highlighting brush has a fluffy, rounded brush on one end and an angled fluffy brush on the other. The rounded brush is less dense and longer than the crease brush. It works well for blending out shadows in the crease but is a little sparse when it comes to the bristles. The angled fluffy brush is my favorite. It has the right density for really getting into the crease and works equally well for applying highlighter under the brow, on the bridge of the nose, and on the cheekbones.
The concealer/liner brush has flat brushes on both ends. One side is longer, and therefore more flimsy. It works well for applying concealer, especially under the eyes. The other end is shorter and smaller, making the brush effective for applying gel or cream liner. I do wish both sides were more stiff.
Overall, this is a good quality brush set that is convenient for on-the-go. It isn’t the highest quality out there, but will cover all the bases you need for applying makeup to the face and eyes.
For $39.80 you effectively get 8 brushes and a sturdy traveling case. That’s less than $5 for each brush, without including the case. This is a good deal given the number of brushes you get and the packaging.
