Swatches: MAC Pigment in “Vanilla”

MAC Pigment in Vanilla

Availability: MAC Stores & Online
Price: $20.00

Below are pictures of MAC’s Vanilla pigment, which the company describes as a soft ivory white. This pigment has a Frost finish and is permanent in MAC’s line.

This is one of my all-time favorite pigment colors by MAC. It’s standard but also versatile. You can use it under the brow bone, on the lid, on the cheeks as a highlighter, mixed with lotion or foundation for a cream highlighter, an in multiple other ways. You can use it dry or with a damp brush. It has a yellow tint to the underlying ivory color.

The images are of the pigment in MAC’s old jar packaging (I wish they would bring it back!), so be aware that if you bought this pigment now, it would come in a smaller, skinnier jar.

I really enjoy all of the detail that you show in the photographs, not just of the swatches but of the packaging and texture of the product in the pot/pan. I sadly bought a MAC pigment at a discount online several weeks ago, and at the time of purchase it looked like the real deal. When I applied it I quickly realized it was a fake. If I had seen photos like these before purchasing the product I would have probably realized it was fake ahead of time! That might make for an interesting blog post later, perhaps? Tell-tale signs that a product is a fake? Just a thought. 🙂 Keep up the great work!!

Thanks for the suggestion! In my early days of makeup I also fell victim to 1-2 fake MAC purchases. There are a lot of very thorough posts and threads on this topic that include suggestions on how to spot fake MAC products. I don’t think I could do any better than those. 🙂
If you do find that the product you bought was fake, I’d suggest reporting it (like if you bought it on ebay).
