Eight dynamic, perfectly color-coordinated shades with high pigment and pearl for ultra-impact color. Shades can be used together or individually to create an endless variety of looks.
Wet n Wild has released three (3) Color Icon eye shadow palettes for its Holiday 2012 collection. This review is for the palette Sparkle ‘Til Morning, which includes mostly neutral shades and an aqua shade.
This palette comes in a plastic compact with a clear, flip-up top that snaps shut. The palette is lightweight and good for traveling with.
In the left column, you get a yellowish-cream shade, a light gold with bronze undertones, a rusty copper, and an aqua. The right column contains a very pale, frosty pink, a golden-bronze, a dark tan, and a very deep brown with lighter brown shimmers.
All of the colors have great pigmentation. The formula is very soft, which is great for transferring and blending the shadows out. At the same time, the softness makes the shadows a bit crumbly, which I’ve found makes the colors fade more quickly.
This is absolutely a fantastic palette, even though I think the formula is slightly too soft. I get a little less-than-average wear time out of the formula–around five (5) hours when applied over primer before creasing starts. And the colors lose a little of their vibrancy by the end of the day.
All of the colors have frosty or shimmery finishes, which is also less-than ideal. Luckily, the crease color in the right column has low shimmer and the definer shade in the right column also shows up fairly matte if it’s blended out.
Ease of Use: 9.5/10
The soft powder makes these colors apply to the skin very easily and smoothly. Blending the shades out is also effortless, though you are at risk of over-blending because of the more crumbly nature of the formula.
You cannot get a better deal than this. You get 8 shadows for $5–less than $1 for each color! You are absolutely getting more than you pay for.
