A creamy mascara that perfectly coats, lengthens and separates each individual lash. This mascara is ideal for creating customized looks. In one coat, it accentuates your lashes with subtlety; additional coats frame your eyes with lush, more dramatic effect.
Ellis Faas’s mascara is said to separate and lengthen. This mascara comes in two (2) shades: Black and Milk Chocolate. This review is for the shade Milk Chocolate.
Like with all of Ellis Faas’s tube packaging, this mascara comes in a nifty, unique, silver, plastic pen tube shaped like a bullet. The tube is thin and light-weight.
This mascara has a creamy, slightly watery consistency. It applies to the lashes with strong color and does a great job of not clumping or making the lashes stick together. The formula doesn’t impart dramatic volume, but it does define and lengthen the lashes.
The most striking thing about this mascara is the color. Milk Chocolate is one of those rare, truly brown, mascaras. Every other “brown” mascara I have tried on the market goes onto the lashes as a soft black. But Milk Chocolate is a distinctly medium brown shade and will actually lighten the color of most people’s lashes (unless you have blonde/red lashes).
This mascara also holds up well throughout the day. If you rub your eyes the mascara will smudge and it’s not water-proof. But it otherwise stays put through the day without smudging or flaking.
Ease of Use: 9/10
The creamy/watery formula means you should let the mascara dry before you blink normally, but the formula otherwise is easy to apply and resists clumping. I found the length of the wand (from the base of the bristles to the handle) to be a little awkward, though.
