Bare Escentuals’ BareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 8.0 in The September Issue contains eight (8) eye shadow colors in the following shades: Couture (glimmering clove), Silhouette (antique white), Statement (vibrant orchid), Prêt-à-Porter (sunbaked gold), Três Chic (apricot cream), Editor’s Pick (metallic teal), Glitterati (shimmering pink), Ensemble (deepest eggplant). The Ready Eyeshadow 8.0 comes in a rectangular, silver, plastic compact with rounded corners. The light-weight palette snaps shut and contains a full-sized mirror inside.
BareMinerals has a high-quality pressed eye shadow formula which is featured in this palette. The neutral shades, in particular, have the right amount of softness so that they glide over the skin smoothly while maintaining good pigmentation. I did find a couple of the shades (Statement and Editor’s Pick) were not as smooth or buttery as the rest, but they still have good pigmentation and can be built up.
The bright colors creased sooner than the neutrals. Without a primer, the neutrals started to crease after around four (4) hours of wear. The colors also faded after about 6 hours of wear. With a primer underneath, the neutral shades went six (6) to seven (7) hours before showing slight creasing and fading.
Ease of Use: 9.5/10
The neutral shades are easy to apply because of the formula. The brighter shades are a little stiffer in the pan.
For $40.00 you get eight (8) shades for a total of 0.28 ounces of shadow. Given that BareMinerals’ eye shadow duos cost $20.00, and contain 0.1 ounces, you’re getting more shadow for your money with this eight-pan palette.
