Luminous and water-light, this sheer liquid achieves a lustrous radiance with ultra-fine, light-reflecting particles that subtly highlight the face and diffuse uneven tone. Broad-spectrum sun protection and antioxidants keep skin looking fresh, young, and healthy.
One of Becca’s most well-known items is the Shimmering Skin Perfector. It is a liquid luminizer that also contains sun protecting ingredients. This product comes in six (6) shades. This review is for the shade Pearl, which is a shimmering pearl-white shade.
This product comes in a cylindrical bottle. The bottle comes with a pull-off cap and a pump, which keeps the product inside sanitary.
Pearl is a mostly translucent white color with microscopic, white, pearlized particles. Unlike with Moonstone, Pearl leaves a white sheen/cast that will pale out most people’s skin slightly. You may want to apply your blush color on top to avoid leaving a demarcating line where the Shimmering Skin Perfector is.
The formula is a thin cream that isn’t watery. It applies to the skin the way a face moisturizer would. This is a great overall luminizer that you can apply before putting on your foundation or mix with your foundation to give your skin a bit of brightness. Alternatively, you can use it as a highlighter on specific areas of your face. Either way, the effect is very natural and subtle, so if you’re looking for something more dramatic, you should opt for a different product.
I would give this item a higher Quality score except for two (2) negatives. First, the Shimmering Skin Perfector contains Alcohol Denat. in the ingredients–an ingredient harmful to your skin. Second, it contains Fragrance in the ingredients–another ingredient that irritates and damages the skin.
It also won’t do anything to even out your skin tone, as the company claims. But it does contain effective sun protecting ingredients that block rays that cause aging of the skin.
Ease of Use: 9.5/10
This formula is easy to apply and blend out because of the thin consistency. But the white cast it leaves needs to be more carefully paired with other colors you put on the skin so that blends together seamlessly. If you’re using this product as a stand-alone highlighter (as opposed to mixing it into your moisturizer or foundation), I would apply it before applying your blush or bronzer so that they cover the white cast of the Pearl shade.
For $41.00 you get 1.7 fl. oz (50 ml) of product. Guerlain’s Terracotta Blush Sun Shimmer Highlighter costs the same amount but contains much less: 0.5 fl. oz (15 ml) of product. Clinique’s High Beam costs $26.00 and contains 0.45 fl. oz. (13.3 ml). The massive amount of product you get with the Shimmering Skin Perfector makes it a far better deal compared to other liquid highlighters.
