Handmade in Italy, this award-winning editor’s favorite highlights skin with five bars of pearlescent shimmer in Bobbi’s freshest take on spring florals. Featuring bright pink, golden pink, and icy pink pearl pigments perfect for light to medium skin tones. Each bar also doubles up as eye shadow.
Bobbi Brown’s newest Shimmer Brick releases with its Spring 2013 Lilac Rose Collection. The Shimmer Brick in Lilac Rose contains shades of pink, golden pink, and icy pink pearl.
Shimmer Bricks come in glossy, black, rectangular, plastic compacts. The compact has a snap-shut lid that flips open to reveal a mirror inside. Though on the bulky side, this compact is quite light-weight.
Lilac Rose contains five (5) colored, shimmery strips: three (3) of them are variations of a peachy-coral-pink, one (1) is a icy pearl with a hint of pink, and one (1) is a bright pink. When mixed together, you get a light, frosty pink. If you use this as just a highlighting color, it’s mostly a silvery shimmer with a whisper of pink. When used wet, the pink shade leans more peach.
The shimmer particles are very small, so you get a wonderfully refined sheen to the skin without any chunky glitter bits.
The powder glides across the skin and blends beautifully. You can layer the powder to bring out the pink and use it as a light, shimmery blush, or just use a light layer as a highlighting powder. If you have oily or mature skin, this product’s shimmery quality is probably best passed up for a more subtle liquid or cream luminizer.
Ease of Use: 10/10
This shade is effortless to use. It will pair with any skin tone and blends across the skin smoothly. You can use the powder wet for a more intense, liquid-metallic effect.
For $42.00 you get 0.4 ounces (10.3 grams) of product. You get a lot of product for the price. Dior’s Diorskin Shimmer Star costs $44.00 and contains 0.35 ounces while Laura Mercier’s Shimmer Bloc costs $38.00 and contains 0.21 ounces of product. You get significantly more product per dollar with Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Bricks, though this does cost $2.00 more than what Shimmer Bricks used to.
