Spring brings out everyone’s best colors. Our eye shadow trio gives you three times the possibilities to let your eyes shine in matte, metallic and shimmer finishes. These versatile shadows make it easy to highlight, contour and accentuate your eyes.
Elizabeth Arden’s New York in Bloom Collection features two eye shadow trios. This review is for the trio in Violet Bloom, which contains a metallic taupe, shimmering light pink, and deep grey-brown.
This trio comes in a rectangular, gold, plastic compact that flips open and contains a full-sized mirror inside. The outside is decorated with a limited-edition floral design while the eye shadow pan inside is embossed with a flower design.
Unlike Elizabeth Arden’s high-quality Beautiful Color formula, the formula for this trio seems to be on the stiff side. The powder is a bit chalky, which means the colors are streaky and lack pigmentation when initially applied, requiring you to apply more product to get a more pleasant-looking finish.
The colors in this trio also didn’t seem to maintain their pigmentation for as long as Elizabeth Arden’s permanent eye shadows. Creasing also occurred after about three (3) hours without primer applied and after about five (5) hours with primer applied. The Beautiful Color formula lasts much longer.
Overall, this is a beautiful-looking eye shadow trio, but the quality doesn’t match up.
Ease of Use: 7.75/10
The colors in this trio will need to be layered on the lid. The dark brown shade goes on streaky, so you’ll need to do some extra blending and layering to smooth it out.
For $32.00 you get 0.17 ounces (5 grams) of product. Elizabeth Arden’s single Beautiful Color eye shadows cost $18.50 and contain 0.09 ounces (2.5 grams). So you’re getting more product per dollar by buying the trio.
