This review is for Lancome’s new Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Plum Splendor, which includes four (4) eye shadow shades (in pinks and purples) and a black eye liner shade.
Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palettes come in a rounded-square compact made of reflective, black plastic. The compacts flip open and contain a full-sized mirror inside. Each of these palettes also has a plastic covering that goes over the eye shadows and describes where on the eye Lancome suggests you use each shade. You, of course, do not have to strictly adhere to these suggestions.
The Plum Splendor palette contains four (4) eye shadow colors: a frosty pale pink, a shimmering muted purple, a shimmering plum purple, and a shimmering light pink-purple. The palette also includes a matte black eye liner powder.
The formula for these eye shadows is fairly soft and creamy. Each shade has good pigmentation, but the finish isn’t as refined as the ones from Lancome’s Peach Opulence palette. The shimmer in this palette also will produce a little bit of fall-out. The black liner shade is a little stiffer in formula so that it can be applied opaquely in a thin line.
Ease of Use: 9/10
The formula for the powders in this palette is pretty simple to apply, though I’d apply them over primer to help the shimmer particles stick and to even out the pigmentation.
For $49.00 you get 0.141 ounces (4 grams) of product. This is far more expensive given how many ounces of product you get compared to palettes from brands like Illamasqua, Urban Decay, Becca, and LORAC.
