L’Oreal’s newest foundation comes with its Magic Nude line and comes in a liquid-to-powder formula. The foundation comes in 12 shades. This review is for the shade Nude Beige.
*Note* My recent look at the ingredients in this foundation has significantly changed my review. Please take another look at the information, below, if you previously read this review. Thanks!
This foundation comes in a rectangular, glass bottle with a screw-off top. The bottle is small–it fits in the palm of your hand. It isn’t the most sanitary of packaging, but it’s not too messy either.
Nude Beige is a great color for NC 20-25 skin. The shade is neutral, with no clear pink or yellow undertone.
This foundation has a formula that I haven’t experienced before. It’s unbelievable silky and soft on the skin. It leaves a velvety finish that isn’t matte or oily. Even if you have combination skin, like mine, this won’t exacerbate any oiliness. If you have oily skin, I’d still set this with powder, as it won’t actively combat sheen. But if you have normal skin, you can skip the powder. If you have dry skin, you can definitely skip the powder, but I’d also use a good moisturizer underneath.
Unfortunately, even though this foundation has an SPF 18 rating, the sun-protecting ingredient (Octinoxate) protects mainly against UVB rays, not UVA. You need to wear a sunscreen underneath this for the daytime.
This foundation gives medium coverage that can be built up or thinned out. It wears well through the day without breaking down.
*UPDATE* I’ve realized that this foundation has a large amount of alcohol in it, which is what gives it its dry/matte quality. Alcohol isn’t something you should be applying all over your face. Because of the inclusion of this ingredient, this is no longer an A product.
Ease of Use: 9.75/10
This foundation blends well into the skin without looking streaky.
For around $13.00, you get 0.91 ounces (27 ml) of product. Most drugstore foundations are 1 ounce and cost closer to $10.00.
