Five complementary shades that glide on and blend beautifully for infinite day-to-night looks: bright champagne with pearl, peach pink with pearl, light pink, bright lavender and dusty grey. Matte to highly pearlized finish.
This review is for the Veluxe Pearlfusion eye shadow palette in Pastelluxe, which releases with MAC’s Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow Collection for Summer 2013. This palette includes shades of bright champagne with pearl, peach pink with pearl, light pink, bright lavender and dusty grey.
This palette contains a pale champagne gold, a pale champagne pink, a light pink, a baby purple, and a khaki-grey. All of the shades except the khaki-grey have a frosty finish with a flaky glitter texture. The khaki-grey shade has a shimmery finish without the flaky texture.
When applied dry, all of the shades except for the khaki-grey are pale, translucent, and weak in pigmentation. MAC says up-front that these shades are sheer when applied dry, but the frosty shades in this palette are especially sheer, even compared to the other Veluxe Pearlfusion palettes from this collection. The chunky nature of the glitter particles is also not the most flattering in terms of finish.
When applied with a damp brush, the pigmentation and opacity of the frosty colors is more prominent and the khaki-green shade is deeper. But the finishes are still a bit chunky and uneven. I would certainly suggest using the shades in this palette wet, unless you’re just looking for a sheer wash of sparkle.
