Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics has recently expanded its makeup line to include loose pigments, cream lip & cheek colors, and nail polishes. Its new line of Loose Colour Concentrates can be used on the eyes, lips, and cheeks and includes 36 different shades. This review is for the shade Slag–a red brown with green.
This product comes in a clear, plastic pot with a twist-off lid.
Slag is a golden brown with an olive duo-chromed finish. Applied dry, the color is semi-translucent. Applied wet, it’s more opaque and the duo-chrome effect is more prominent.
I was initially drawn to this shade because of its uniqueness. I have so many brown eye shadows in my collection and Slag offered something different with its flash of green. But, honestly, I think this is a hard shade to pull off. There’s something about the mixture of the gold, brow, and green that looks strange on the lids. It kind of makes me think of pea soup, for some reason…
Aside from the color, though, the formula is finely-milled and glides onto the skin smoothly. It blends out quite well in the crease area and can be packed onto the lid for a more intense effect.
Without primer, the color started to crease after about three (3) hours of wear. With primer applied, the shadow stayed crease-free for over six (6) hours.
Ease of Use: 9/10
This loose powder applies to the skin smoothly and can be used wet or dry. Loose powder take more time to work with. Make sure to tap off your brush before application. And use smaller, patting motions if you’ are applying this shadow with a damp brush. Otherwise, the duo-chrome effect and the finish can be uneven.
