Pixi’s Eye Bright Kit contains four (4) cream colors to help make the eyes look brighter and more awake. The kit contains two (2) cover-up shades, an eye brightener, and a highlighter.
This kit comes in an opaque, pale green, round compact with a twist-off lid. Each color is separated into its own well inside the compact.
I’m not one to easily believe in the effectiveness of “brightening” products, and probably less so when it comes to eye brighteners. I’ve tested plenty of good concealers that cover under-eye darkness, but when it comes to “brighteners,” I’ve always felt a bit underwhelmed.
Not so with Pixi’s Eye Bright Kit. I was thoroughly impressed.
The kit contains two cream concealers that effectively covered up my under-eye darkness without looking thick or cakey and without drying out the skin (which is a problem I encounter more as I get older). The formula actually feels like it might be too slick to look flattering, but the effect is pretty effortless. Admittedly (like with almost any cream product), the concealer colors will start to settle into lines if you apply too much. You get two fairly similar shades best suited for fair and light skin.
The cream highlighter is also fantastic. It’s a shimmering silver-pink-sand shade that’s fairly colorless on the skin and leaves a subtle, but noticeable, sheen. It’s great for using under the brow bone, on the bridge of the nose, and on the tops of the cheekbones. You can use it underneath powder foundation and blushes or over a liquid/cream foundation and paired with a cream/gel blush.
The eye brightener impressed me the most. It’s a soft white shade without any shimmer. It looks green/yellow in the pan, but doesn’t show up that way on the skin. It instantly opens up the eyes and makes them brighter. I apply this to the inner corners. You can also use it down the bridge of the nose or anywhere else on the face as a non-shimmering highlighter.
Ease of Use: 9.75/10
The cream formula melts slightly under the warmth of your fingers. You can dab and blend the colors easily over the skin. You don’t need to set the cream, but you might want to apply powder on top of your under-eye area if you want to reduce the effect of the cream settling into lines under your eyes.
For $25.00 you get 0.07 ounces (2 grams) of product. It’s difficult to find close comparisons to Pixi’s Eye Bright Kit, but similar products include Benefit’s Ooh La Lift, which costs $22.00 and contains 0.25 ounces. Smashbox’s Photo Op Under Eye Brightener costs $22.00 and contains 0.24 ounces. You get more variety and uses out of Pixi’s Eye Bright Kit, but it is still expensive given the comparatively small amount of product you get.
