A rich liquid lipstick that leaves lips as smooth as lacquer. Inspired by Japanese lacquerware, one coat of this luxurious formula provides intense color and deep luster. The applicator fits closely against the lips for a comfortable and even application that does not bleed. Lacquer Rouge improves dry, rough, or peeling lips with continued use, leaving them smooth and deeply moisturized..
Shiseido is a Japanese brand that is available through Sephora. The company’s Lacquer Rouge is a liquid lipstick that is available in 18 shades. This review is for the shade RD311 Rubelite–a peachy pink color.
This lipstick comes in a black, opaque, plastic tube that twists in the middle to reveal a doe-footed applicator.
Rubelite is an extremely wearable color. It’s a medium peachy-pink with silver micro-shimmer, though you can’t really tell that the color has shimmer in it once it’s applied to the lips.
This lip product has an interesting formula. It is like a lacquer, so it neither has the solid quality of a lipstick nor the fluid texture of a gloss–it’s somewhere in between. The formula leaves a layer of color on the lips.
I really liked the way this looked right after application. But after about an hour of wear, this formula actually made my lips a little dry, and emphasized any minor chapped patches I had. It also became stickier.
The formula also didn’t last very long–only about two (2) hours before needing to be scrubbed off (to get rid of the dry look) and re-applied.
Ease of Use: 7/10
This lacquer glides onto the skin easily enough. But you have to make sure your lips are smooth before application, and the fact that you have to scrub your lips before re-application is a hassle.
For $25.00 you get 0.2 ounces of product.
