Ditch your sharpener, but stay sharp! This waterproof kohl eyeliner glides on and self-sharpens every time you twist the cap off. Inspired by Smashbox pros who sharpen before every use on set, this first-of-its-kind pencil has a sharpener built right into the cap for a perfect tip-so you’ll always get a precise line.
Smashbox’s new take on the kohl liner provides a built-in sharpener that automatically sharpens each time you use the product. This liner comes in 8 different shades. This review is for Bare, which is a nude color.
This eye pencil comes in a very light, plastic pencil that shows the color of the product inside. The cap actually twists off, which sharpens the liner in the process.
Bare is a matte nude color, which works fantastically in the waterline to help brighten and widen the eyes without making them look too stark or unnatural (as white liners tend to do).
The liner’s soft texture means it won’t poke or scratch at the sensitive water-line area. Bare transfers good color and will give you an opaque line if applied to the upper lash-line.
This formula lasts all day and won’t budge when applied to the upper lash-line. It also does a commendable job when applied to the water-line. It starts to fade after a few hours of wear, and is at about 50% strength after 6 hours of wear, but hangs in there so that even by the end of the day, you’re getting a brightening effect from the color.
Ease of Use: 9.75/10
The liner has a soft, creamy formula that transfers well onto the skin without deforming under pressure. The small, pointed tip of the liner also allows you to apply the liner in the waterline precisely. You can, of course, also use this on the upper lash-line if you want.
For $20.00 you get 0.01 grams of product. You’re getting the typical amount of liner and a comparable price-point to brands like Tarte and Stila.
