Our iconic smoky palette has a new look! It now includes a double-ended brush and fresh new shades of our Photo Op Eye Shadows for creating the ultimate smoldering eye looks.
Smashbox has released two (2) new iterations of its Photo Op Eye Shadow Palettes. This review is for the palette in Smokebox II, which features the following shades of eye shadow:
- Alabaster: matte bisque
- Thunder: shimmery smokey grey
- Blackout: matte jet black
- Roast: reddish brown with gold flecks
- Black Currant: suede/matte plum
- Seafoam: sheensoft mint
This palette comes in a black, plastic, rectangular compact that flips open and contains a full-sized mirror inside. You also receive a mini, duo-ended brush.
The formula for all six (6) of the shades included in this palette are uniformly soft and creamy without being crumbly. All of the shades are pigmented and glide across the skin smoothly without requiring any sort of layering. Literally one swipe of a brush across the eye shadow pan is enough for application.
Overall, this palette is also fantastic for the mix of smoky colors you get–ranging from deep black to pale nude. The finishes are also varied–from completely matte, to slightly metallic, to shimmery.
Ease of Use: 10/10
There is no need to layer or swipe your brush across the skin multiple times. You get even, smooth, color-strong finishes from each shade in this palette.
For $39.00 you get six shades for a total of 0.16 ounces (4.56 grams) of product. Unfortunately, this is an extremely small amount of product compared to similar palettes from brands like Kat Von D, Stila, and Tarte, which are in a similar price range but offer 3-5 times as much product.
