Company’s Description

A breakthrough tone-correcting mineral foundation and skincare serum in one. Created with exceptional purity in mind, this ultrathin, skin-perfecting fluid provides seamless adjustable coverage, a natural finish, and the look and feel of beautiful skin while delivering a noticeably brighter, more youthful appearance—it’s like nothing you’ve ever felt before.

BareMinerals’ new BareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation is said to be a “breakthrough” product that combines the tone-correction of a foundation and the benefits of skincare. The shade depicted and reviewed is Bare Ivory.

Packaging: 8/10

This foundation comes in an opaque, plastic bottle with a twist-off cap and a small spout opening. This packaging is a bit strange because it doesn’t squeeze easily but also doesn’t dispense the product just by tipping the bottle upside down. So you have to squeeze the stiff bottle or shake it to dispense the foundation.

Quality: 6/10

Bare Ivory is too light for my NC20/25 skin, and makes it look a little dead. I have to apply bronzer on top to correct the color.

This foundation has a bizarre formula. It’s a very thin, fluid liquid. The box says that this foundation is formulated without oil, silicone, parabens, fragrance, or water. I completely appreciate that this foundation contains no fragrance, but no water??

Maybe that’s why this foundation, despite looking like a liquid, dries out parts of my face. Applying this foundation created dry patches around my nose and mouth/chin. And I have combination skin–I can’t imagine how this would work on someone with dry skin!

Frustratingly, this foundation not only created dry patches on my face, but also made my skin shiny in a way that I had trouble getting rid of through normal blotting methods.

So this foundation is drying and shiny-looking at the same time.

This foundation also does not blend in nicely. It takes a lot of buffing and blending to get rid of the streaky look this foundation leaves.

Ease of Use: 6/10

Use just a couple drops of this foundation at a time. Expect to spend extra time buffing and blending this in to get rid of the streaks.

Price: 9/10

For $29.00 you get 1 fl oz (30 ml) of foundation.

Love the review! I also bought bare ivory and am an nc25-30 skintone and it’s way too light. What shade worked better for you? I ordered bare beige to try out but I feel it might be too dark 🙁
