This review is for Benefit’s new Lollitint cheek stain, which is a candy orchid shade.
This blush comes in a bottle made of reflective pink plastic. The cap twists off and is attached to a small brush.
Lollitint is a candy-orchid shade that gives off a dewy finish without shimmer. The color from the bottle changed after the first use, become more grey-tinted. This might be from exposure of the product to air, but it luckily doesn’t result in a grey tint on the skin.
This blush stain has good color to it. It’s bright but also translucent on the skin. It definitely has staining power, so that the color stays true even through sweating and all-day wear. It’s also a good lip stain for the same reason. The product sinks into the skin without drying it out and makes the color look like it’s coming from the skin, not just sitting on top of it.
The downside to this product is practical use for the cheeks. It has a gel formula that blends semi-decently once you get the hang of it (see the Ease of Use section), but it’s very difficult to blend the edges of the color to make them fade into the rest of the skin, and even the middle of your cheek will show some patchiness of color. Benefit’s original Benetint has a liquid formula that blends a little more smoothly. But Benefit has moved to making cheek tints with a more gel-like formula instead of the original liquid formula, and I find that the gel formulation leaves a more patchy finish.
Ease of Use: 8/10
Application to the lips is simple. Just swipe the brush across the lips and blend. For the cheeks, Benefit suggests you swipe the brush in 3 lines on the cheeks and blend. The problem is that it’s hard to blend a gel so that the edges of the color on your cheeks fades into your natural skin color. And, even for the middle of the cheeks, it can be difficult to get this color to be even.
For $30.00 you get 0.42 ounces of product.
