Inspired by the girl who wants to pose like a model while sculpting and chiseling her best features. Key-ar-oh-scoo-roh, or the art of creating shadow and light.
em Cosmetics is a new makeup line created by Michelle Phan. The line includes the Chiaroscuro Contour And Highlighter Stick, which is a cream-formulated product with a highlighter on one end and a contour color on the other. The stick is available in 4 shade duos. The shade depicted and reviewed here is Light.
This highlighting and contouring duo comes in stick form, with the highlighter at one end and the contouring shade at the other. Each end has a metal, slip off cap and each end twists to reveal the product. This product is very convenient for taking on-the-go.
The duo in Light has a neutral-colored contouring shade and a nude-colored highlighting shade. The contouring color is not orange or muddy and contains no shimmer. The highlighter, once blended into the skin, leaves a subtle sheen without noticeable shimmer.
I really like the convenience of this product. It’s easy to apply precisely and travel with. The cream formula blends out nicely, though I do find that I have to apply 2-3 layers if I’m using the contouring side for the face (using it to contour the nose doesn’t require layering). The highlighter is also really subtle, and I find myself layering it to try to get more of an impact out of it. I often can’t tell much of a difference between the half of my face where I’ve applied the highlighter and the half of my face that doesn’t have the highlighter, and just has a natural sheen.
Ease of Use: 9/10
The creamy formula for both the contour and highlighter blends out nicely and smoothly.
For $24.00 you get a total of 0.28 ounces (8 grams) of product. Especially if you’re going to use the contouring side for your face, and not just your nose, this is a small amount of product. Remember that it’s divided into two sides, so you’re getting 0.14 ounces of each color.
