Inspired by the girl whose eyeliner is a desert island essential. his richly pigmented liner grabs everywhere, including your waterline—without budging or smudging.
em Cosmetics is a new makeup line created by Michelle Phan. The line includes 12 Waterliner shades. Waterliners are cream eye liners said to be richly pigmented and appropriate for the waterline. This review is for the shades In The Nude, Ros Gold, and Chocolate Dream.
These liners come in very light-weight, plastic tubes with slip-off caps over the twist-up liner. One end of the stick has a smudger on it.
In The Nude is a matte nude shade, good for brightening up the eyes without looking unnatural the way a white liner would. This pencil is fairly creamy and applies to the waterline decently.
Ros Gold is a metallic, peach-copper. Of the 3 shades, this has the least creamy formula. The color is unique and pretty, but it takes more pressure and warming up to get the color to transfer onto the skin.
Chocolate Dream is a matte, deep chocolate color that’s almost opaque. This has the creamiest formula of the 3 shades, and applies pretty well to the waterline and even better on the upper lash-line.
Although these eye liners are called Waterliners, they could use a softer, creamier formula to ensure easy application on the waterline. In The Nude didn’t last very long in the waterline–2-3 hours–before fading away. There were similar results with Chocolate Dream. And Ros Gold didn’t apply that well to the waterline.
All 3 shades work well on the upper lash-line, especially Chocolate Dream.
Ease of Use: 8.75/10
All 3 shades apply pretty well to the lash-line, but require more layering and pressure when used on the waterline.
For $18.00 you get a total of 0.01 ounces (0.28 gram) of product. This is the typical amount of product for a retractable eye liner.
