Sensuous sun-kissed shades of summer. Tempt your lips with luscious shine and sheer color. From the Bronze Goddess Summer 2014 Collection.
Estee Lauder’s just-launched Bronze Goddess Collection for Summer 2014 is now available at Nordstrom and Macy’s! This review is for the 2 Pure Color Lip Shines releasing with the collection, which come in the following shades:
- Luscious Plum
These Lip Shines come in plastic jumbo pencils with gold, slide-off caps. The tubes are the color of the product inside. You can twist each base to push up more product from the tube.
Mandarine is a medium mandarin orange color without shimmer that leaves a glossy finish on the lips.
Luscious Plum is a deep brown-plum without shimmer that also leaves a glossy finish on the lips.
These have the typical balm consistency and formula. It needs some warming up before it glides onto the lips, but once it’s on, it’s emollient and light-weight.
Both shades have translucent color that can look patchy if you don’t layer on the product and smooth it out. Each leaves behind a very light stain. The formula isn’t long-wearing, lasting up to 2 hours before wearing off.
These Lip Shines aren’t bad, but aren’t impressive enough for the $24.00 price tag. There are better formulated and pigmented lipstick balms from the drugstore (like Revlon’s Just Bitten balms or Lacquer Balms.)
Ease of Use: 8.25/10
I found these took some work to get the color to look even on the lips. Simply layering doesn’t solve the patchiness you get, so you have to not only layer but also smooth out the color correctly to get an even finish.
For $24.00 you get 0.08 ounces (2.5 grams) of product.
