L’Oreal’s new La Laque and La Matte lip products are said to be lipsticks and lip liners in one. The line is divided into 4 matte and 4 lacquer colors. This review is for the La Matte in shade 404 She’s So Matte, which is a cross between a French rose pink and a coral shade.
This lip color comes in a thin, cylindrical, plastic tube that is the same color as the lip product inside. The tube twists to reveal more product.
She’s So Matte is a bright pink shade that has a coral undertone. The finish is opaque and entirely matte.
The formula lasts for a very long time without drying out your lips. The formula is pleasant to wear, especially for a matte product. If you already have dry lips, you’ll want to apply a chapstick or balm over this, but otherwise, you don’t have to worry about this product emphasizing lip lines or exacerbating dryness.
As a bonus, this matte lip product leaves behind a stain on the lips, so even as the product wears off, you still get the benefit of a tint of color.
Ease of Use: 9.75/10
Even though this color is bold, I found it very easy to apply the product precisely because of the narrowed tip of the lipstick. This, over time, will become more rounded, so try to apply the product using one side of the end of the tube to keep the pointed end.
For around $8.00, you get 0.03 ounces (0.9 grams) of product. For a lipstick, this is significantly less product than you’d typically get with a drugstore brand, and it’s also on the more expensive side. That said, this product is pretty unique, so it’s hard to make a good comparison to a typical lipstick.
