This review is for the 3 new, limited-edition Casual Colours releasing with MAC’s Playland Collection. This post includes photographs and swatches of the following colors:
- For Your Amusement: Bright pastel pink
- Young at Heart: Bright pink
- Hi Jinks!: Bright coral
For Your Amusement is a light, yellow-based pink.
Young At Heart is a bright, hot pink.
Hi Jinks! is a is a fiery coral.
Casual Colours come in clear, plastic jars with black, twist-off tops. The packaging is identical to that for MAC’s Tinted Lip Conditioners.
The consistency of Casual Colours is balmy–similar to MAC’s Tinted Lip Conditioners. All of the colors have great pigmentation, even when they are blended out over the cheeks. The formula blends out smoothly and evenly, but it takes a bit of pressure–the formula isn’t as thin as a cream.
On the cheeks, these leave a medium dewy finish without looking oily. If you have dry skin, these are a great blush option. You can set with a powder if you want to reduce the dewy quality if you want. On the cheeks, the color shows signs of fading after about 5 hours of wear. Setting the product with powder will make it longer-lasting.
The Casual Colours also make great lip colors. They have the consistency of a balm but the strong pigmentation of a lipstick. They are moisturizing and don’t emphasize lip lines. The formula doesn’t resist transferring or smudging at all, so you should only expect a wear-life of 2 hours maximum. And if you eat or drink, it will come of easily.
Like with the Lipsticks, the Casual Colours are also a dollar more expensive, now at $21.00 each.
