The Matte Balms come in jumbo pencil form with bases that twist to reveal more product. The packaging is made of matte plastic in the color of the balm inside. The balms twist so that you don’t need to sharpen them.
Striking is a very orange-based red with vibrant, rich color. The finish is opaque and smooth. This color would look stunning against deep skin. Even though the pigment is matte, it leaves a slightly glossy finish.
The texture for this matte balm is slightly powdery and those with dry lips will find they need to apply a balm or gloss on top. The balm has a light peppermint scent without making the lips tingle any significant amount.
The color has great lasting power, and will leave a stain on the lips.
Ease of Use: 9.5/10
The pencil form allows you to draw onto the lips easily and fairly precisely. If you want a lighter touch of color, dab the pencil very lightly and press your lips together, or press your lips on a paper towel to remove some of the color.
