Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm offers velvety color with balm-like moisture. Infused with a Triple Butter Complex of Shea, Mango and Coconut Butter. This retractable chubby crayon requires no sharpener.
Revlon’s new Matte Balms have been added to the ColorBurst line and come in 10 different shades. This review will be for shade #250 Standout, which is a bright, bold, cherry red.
If you would like to see photographs and swatches of all 10 matte shades, please see this post.
The Matte Balms come in jumbo pencil form with bases that twist to reveal more product. The packaging is made of matte plastic in the color of the balm inside. The balms twist so that you don’t need to sharpen them.
Standout is a bright, bold, cherry red color. The finish is opaque and smooth, and doesn’t emphasize any lip lines (until it wears off). Even though the pigment is matte, it leaves a very slight glossy finish.
The texture for this matte balm is slightly powdery and those with dry lips will find they need to apply a balm or gloss on top. The balm has a light peppermint scent without making the lips tingle any significant amount.
The color has great lasting power, and will leave a medium-strength stain on the lips for 2-3 hours after the actual balm has come off.
Ease of Use: 9.75/10
The pencil form allows you to draw onto the lips easily and fairly precisely. If you want a lighter touch of color, dab the pencil very lightly and press your lips together, or press your lips on a paper towel to remove some of the color.
