The stain that started it all. tarte’s award-winning and best-selling cheek stain gives you a gorgeous, natural flush in a gel or cream consistency. Rounded top cheek stains are gel based stains, while flat top cheek stains are the cream based version.
Tarte’s Spring 2014 Collection features the re-packaging (and, unfortunately, re-sizing) of its line of Cheek Stains. The collection also includes the release of a new shade–Fearless–which is a pink coral.
Tarte’s Cheek Stains come in cylindrical, plastic tubes that have twist-off caps. The product can be pushed up by pressing on the base of the tube. These tubes are about half the size of Tarte’s original packaging (you get half the amount of product, too).
Fearless is a bright but translucent pink-peach shade. The blush has a solid gel formula that leaves a very dewy finish.
The color itself is sheer at first, but builds up effectively and is very bright–almost neon–on the skin if you build up the layers. I don’t find the neon aspect of this blush flattering, so I prefer to keep the layer sheer. The formula also tends to resist blending, so you can easily get a patchy finish if you don’t blend well.
Ease of Use: 8.25/10
You can apply this blush straight from the tube and then blend, or swipe a small, fairly dense brush over the product and then apply/blend. Blending this blush takes extra time due to the gel formula.
For $30.00 you get 0.5 ounces of product. This is half the amount of product you got with Tarte’s previous version of the cheek stain. But Tarte is charging the same amount.
I think this is a shame. If a company is going to give you less, they should charge less, even if it’s not a 1-to-1 reduction in price.
