The Tom Ford Spring 2014 Color collection celebrates the return of warm weather with a wardrobe of hues ranging from shimmering neutrals to alluring brights. His lip color sheer brings a decadent mix of vitamins C and E, plus shea butter, to your lips to hydrate and moisturize while delivering you the perfect pop of color. The distinct lip color is packaged in a retro-chic case.
Tom Ford’s Spring 2014 Collection features the release of a new lipstick formula–Lip Color Sheer. It comes in 7 shades. This review is for the shade Summer Fling–a peachy pink with shimmer.
Tom Ford lipsticks come in extremely sleek and sophisticated packaging. The tubes are made of white metal with gold trimming and are rectangular. The end of the lipstick is branded with the Tom Ford logo.
Summer Fling is a translucent peach-pink with low-level shimmer.
The Lip Color Sheer has more of a balmy texture than a lipstick. The lipstick leaves a glossy finish.
This shade, despite being moisturizing, can settle into lip lines or emphasize dry patches. The formula is also not long-wearing. Like a balm, it wears off when you eat or drink something, and even if you don’t, only lasts 1-2 hours before needing re-application.
Ease of Use: 9.5/10
This lipstick applies onto the skin smoothly without having to tug. I find the new bullet design awkward, but this is a minor negative.
For $49.00 you get 3 grams (0.10 ounces) of product. Dior’s Rouge Dior costs $32.00 and contains 0.12 ounces. Chanel’s Rouge Coco costs $32.50 and contains 0.12 ounces. While the high price-point for Tom Ford lipsticks isn’t a surprise, it is well above similarly-situated high-end brands.
