Ellie Goulding, the powerhouse pop goddess, brings her blonde, bold spirit to M•A•C in a collaboration that’s as mesmerizing as her music. Emulate her signature au naturel look with Halcyon Days, cool-toned shades of four Cream Colour Bases and a Blot Powder/Pressed in a double-decker compact. Special packaging features Ellie’s triangular logo in a striking rose gold.
MAC’s Ellie Goulding Collection features the release of the Halcyon Days palette, which includes the following four Cream Colour Bases and a Blot Pressed Powder:
- Root: Red taupey brown with shimmer (Cream Colour Base)
- Tint: Soft peachy brown with shimmer (Cream Colour Base)
- Wished I Stayed: Light cream pearl (Cream Colour Base)
- Every Time You Go: Creamy peachy pink (Cream Colour Base)
- Medium Dark Blot Pressed Powder: Medium dark
This square compact contains four Cream Colour Bases on a palette that slides side-ways to reveal the Blot Pressed Powder underneath.
Even though the Blot Pressed Powder is in the shade Medium Dark, there’s hardly any pigmentation to the powder, so it will actually suit many skin tones. It looked perfectly natural on my light, yellow-based skin, and did a pretty good job of helping mattify the skin for several hours. I’ve actually not included pictures of the swatches I did with the Blot Pressed Powder, because you can’t see it on the skin.
The Cream Colour Bases are supposed to be versatile cream products that you can use on the eyes, face, lips, and body. I’m not a big fan of using these on the eyes. Even over a good primer and while using a thin layer of the product, these will crease after just an hour of wear. But used on the face, these are buildable with a nice, natural finish. These aren’t super long-wearing on the lips, but will again give you a natural finish.
Overall, I think this kit is best suited for use on the face. Root can be used to contour, despite it technically having shimmer in it, Tint can be used to bronze, Wished I Stayed can be used to highlight, and Every Time You Go can be used as a cream blush.
